Barbados is still one of the safest destinations in the world. However, as anywhere, crime does occur. You can feel comfortable exploring the island, but please exercise good judgment (i.e. do not wear excessive jewellery or expose your money, do not walk alone at night or in isolated areas, etc.) In-room safes have been provided free of charge for you to store your valuables. Safety deposit boxes are also available at Reception.

Yes. Bougainvillea sits on one of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados. Most days the waters are calm, and swimming is perfectly safe. However, the ocean must be respected and there may be occasions when it is necessary for yellow or red flags to be posted to discourage or prohibit swimming.

Smoking is prohibited in public buildings in Barbados. Bougainvillea's smoke-free policy means that smoking in the hotel's rooms, on balconies, restaurants, lobbies or in any place that is not a designated smoking area is illegal and subject to fines of up to US$2,500. To offset the extensive cost of restoring guest rooms to a smoke-free condition, guests who do not comply will be charged a fee of US$250, no exceptions.

It is impossible to come to the Caribbean and not encounter insects. Mosquitoes are not prevalent but can be attracted to visitors. If requested, we would be happy to spray your room, but as the hotel is Green Globe certified, we try to avoid the use of insecticides and aerosol sprays. We recommend the use of a mosquito repellent if necessary.

Pets are not permitted.
