Pre-Arrival Information

It's almost that time and as you will soon be joining us in Barbados, we wanted to share some information to make your stay as comfortable as it can be!

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us - we are here to help.

Getting to the Hotel

Have you already arranged a transfer to the hotel?  Taxis are readily available when you exit the arrivals hall but if you prefer to pre-book, just let us know, we would be happy to arrange for you.

The cost of a meet & greet airport to hotel transfer is US$40 for 1-4 people and US$55 or 5-6 people. If your luggage exceeds the capacity of the vehicle, an additional charge will apply.  Please request at least 24 hours in advance.

Check-in

Check-in time is 4pm. Early check-in is subject to the availability of your room, so it can only be guaranteed if the room is booked from the previous night.

Our Hospitality Lounge is complimentary and available to our guests who arrive early (or have a late departure).  In these circumstances, we can store your luggage, so that there is no delay in getting your holiday started.

The hotel requires a US$200 per room security deposit (cash or credit card authorization) at check-in, which will only be charged if there are damages or incidents.

Accessibility

It's important to note that Bougainvillea does not have elevators.  If you have serious mobility challenges, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to arrange a ground/low floor for you.

We appreciate your understanding that mobility challenges are given priority over location preferences.

Room Requests

Please let us know in advance if you have any special requests.  While they are not guaranteed, we will always try our utmost for you.

Requests for specific views are subject to availability as rooms are sold by type and not view (with the exception of our Honeymoon Suites, Penthouses & Two Bedrooms Suites)

Cribs and rollaway beds are complimentary and available on request.

Dining Reservations & Meal Plan Options

There are two excellent onsite dining options for you to enjoy, Calabash Beach Bistro and the privately operated Deia Beach.

Meal plans are available at Calabash Beach Bistro and you can opt to include daily beachside buffet breakfast, a la carte lunch and/or dinner!    We recommend reservations at Calabash particularly for breakfast and dinner so that you can guarantee dining at your preferred time.

Deia offers an exciting mediterreanean menu and is normally open daily for lunch & dinner.

*A stroll along the South Coast Boardwalk

*Visit a Rum Shop for an authentic Bajan experience

*Rihanna's childhood home on Rihanna Drive

*Visiting our capital Bridgetown - a UNESCO World Heritage site

*Horseracing at the Garrison Savannah

Getting Around

Consider hiring a car and exploring at your own pace - just remember that in Barbados, we drive on the left. Car rental companies will provide a driver's permit for a nominal fee.

Another great option for getting around is public transport. Buses are easy to use and cost just US $1.75 or BD$ 3.50 per trip. Having exact change (in BD$) is recommended and the nearest bus stop is just a short 2 – 3 minute walk from the hotel.

When taking public transport, pay attention to the bus pole signs. Bus poles say either ‘Bus to City’ or ‘Bus Out of City'. If you’re lost, (which isn’t the worst thing in Barbados) follow the bus signs to Bridgetown and go from there.

In the Area

St. Lawrence Gap is one of the restaurant and nightlife hot spots on the island and it's just a short 5 minute drive from the hotel.  Also 5 minutes away is Oistins, our famous fishing village, which comes alive on Friday nights!  Tip: You can also visit Oistins with far fewer crowds on weekdays!

Self Catering

As all of our guest rooms offer convenient kitchen/kitchenette facilities, so you might be wondering where to shop. "La Tienda", our lovely gift shop is located in our lobby and here you will find a wonderful selection of snacks, wine, essentials, beachwear & souvenirs.

There is also a major supermarket just five minutes drive from the hotel.  They also offer online shopping and delivery through the link below.

Miscellaneous Info

*Barbados' water supply is one of the cleanest in the world.  You can safely drink from the tap!

*Mosquitoes are a reality in the tropics.  We will do our part to keep them at bay but suggest that while on the island you consider using a repellant.

*There is a downside to Aloe vera - it stains everything.  Please avoid the use of Aloe while at the hotel.

*Barbados has strict drug laws.  While recreational or medicinal use is now permitted in many places, be aware that it is still illegal Barbados.

*Unless you’re in the military, camouflage in any form is illegal in Barbaddos and can result in fines up to USD 5000.

Currency

US dollars, British pounds and Euros can be exchanged at our Reception desk between 7am - 5pm daily or at any bank on the island.

US Dollars (bills only) is the only foreign currency that will be accepted anywhere on the island and the exchange rate is fixed at approximately $2 Barbados dollars to $1 US dollar.  However, note that you will always receive your change in Barbados dollars.

When departing, Barbados dollars can be exchanged for foreign currency at the airport.

Get Pampered or Pumped

Karma Spa is not to be missed for the ultimate rest & relaxation with a range of luxurious massages, body treatments, pedicures & manicures.  Salon services and waxing are also available.

If fitness is your thing, there's no need to miss out on your workout, right next to our spa is our fully equipped gym - arguably one of the best hotel gyms on the island!

Smoking

Smoking under covered areas is against the law in Barbados.  All of our hotel rooms & balconies, restaurant, lobby and other covered spaces are non-smoking (this includes vaping).

Safety

Barbados is one of the safest places you can visit, but remember to be as mindful of your surroundings and belongings as you would when travelling anywhere else in the world.

Who We Are

Barbadians (Bajans) are very friendly and polite and will more often than not say hello when passing and will help you when you're in need, so prepare to make new friends and have a amazing time in Barbados!
